Degree Specializations

The School of 教育 offers two master's degree 程序s and several areas of specialization:

Master of 教育 (M.Ed.) with concentrations in:

  • 21st Century Teaching & 学习 
  • 教育al Leadership (May lead to NAD administrator endorsement only)
  • Literacy Instruction (May lead to Washington state and/or NAD reading specialist endorsement)
  • Special education track (May lead to Washington state and/or NAD special education endorsement, fully online and start any quarter with discounted tuition)
     

Master of Initial Teaching (MIT)

  • Instruction with Certification (Elementary) 
  • Instruction with Certification (Secondary)

Application deadline

  • Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis provided space is available. You may take up to 12 credits before being admitted and have those courses apply towards the master’s 程序 of study. A completed application file must be received by May 1 to avoid delays in admission review. After May 1, files are not guaranteed to finish review in time for the summer quarter start.

These 程序s teach basic research skills and techniques; focus on research in emerging policy, 实践, and professional life; address contemporary issues, 需要, and trends in education and psychology; provide supervised practicums in the area of specialization; and assist students in the development and application of a philosophy of Christian service.

Required credits

  • 46 or 52为M.Ed. Special 教育 (includes WA SPED endorsement)

  • 47 or 49 for M.Ed. Literacy Instruction (includes WA Reading Endorsement)
  • M为48.Ed. 21st Century Teaching & 学习
  • 52为M.Ed 教育al Leadership and Special 教育
  • 49 or 52为M.Ed. 教育al Leadership (SDA Principal Certification)
  • 61-68 for M.I.T. Secondary 教育 (earn your secondary teaching certificate)
    • Must pass a basic skills and endorsement content state exam and have 45+ credits in an endorsable content area.
  • 87-96 for M.I.T. Elementary 教育 (earn your elementary teaching certificate)
    • Must pass basic skills state exam and have 45+ credits in an endorsable content area.

长度

Teachers can finish in two years for the SPED degree. Most concentrations for M.Ed are completed in 4 summers or less. M.I.T is 2 years full-time, on-campus or commuting, including student teaching hours.

Fully online for M.Ed concentrations. Start any term depending on class availability, Summer quarter is the preferred entry term. M.I.T. certification options are on-campus for an entry term of the Summer or Fall quarter.
